Minutes from the January OMEA District 4 Meeting

D4 RECEPTION AT THE OMEA CONFERENCE:

·       Thursday night from 9 until 11:30 p.m. after the First Night Concert

·       Will be held at the Hyatt

·       Cash Bar, same menu as last year, but Devon will order less food

·       David will send check for the reception

·       Devon will send out an invitation to D4 members as she did last year

 

JUNIOR HIGH LARGE GROUP ADJUDICATIED EVENT:

·       Strongsville will host bands and choirs (choirs will be scheduled first starting at 4 p.m.)

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL HONORS EVENT:

·       Will take place on March 12^th at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium

·       This was the only day and location that could be scheduled this year

 

WINTER NEWSLETTER:

·       Deadline for information is February 11

·       Should go out Late February

 

WEBSITE UPDATES:

·       Our sincere appreciation for a job well done by Chris Barbaro, who served as our Webmaster.

·       Our new webmaster will be Jared Plasterer—thanks!

·       Minutes for the D4 meeting held in November and January will soon be posted soon.

 

NON-MEMBER INFORMATION COLLECTION:

·       Devon requested that information be turned into Jill Murrell ASAP

·       Still need information from Chris Dolce, David Eby and Eric Richardson

 

HIGH SCHOOL SOLO & ENSEMBLE:

·       Devon will contact Kira Sedgewick, this year’s host, to make sure everything is running smoothly

·       Directors need to contact Devon so she knows how many lunches to order for them and their accompanists

·       Discussions  ensued about questions and concerns in this new venue

 

D4 COMMITTEE MEETING SCHEDULE CHANGE:

·       Due to conflicts, the next three meetings will be held on Tuesdays, at the Macaroni Grill at 4 p.m.

·       The dates are: February 8^th, March 8^th, and April 5^th.

·       All committee chairs will be invited to the February meeting

 

OMEA PROFESSIONAL CONFERENCE:

·       Information about registration and hotel accommodations is on the OMEA website

·       Deadlines are quickly approaching

·       D4 is will be well represented with presenters, presiders and performers—more on this later!

 

END OF THE YEAR MEETING:

·       Tentatively scheduled for June 3 or 10 (depending on availability of the speaker and dinning location)

 

NEXT MEETING:  TUESDAY, February 8^th, 2011 at 4 PM at Macaroni Grill
