2011 Info

Dear Ohio Music Colleagues in the High Schools of District IV:

We are once again looking forward to hosting you and your students for this year’s High School Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event on January 28, 2012 here at the Western Campus of Cuyahoga Community College!
Tri-C West is found at 11000 Pleasant Valley Road in Parma. If you are coming from the West, your best route to I-71 will take you to Bagley Road, which goes east and turns into Pleasant Valley. About a mile east of W. 130th is the best Tri-C West entrance to come to, with a big parking lot on the South end in what we call the “B” parking lot. Audiences and performers can park in “B”, come in the southern-most entrance to the building, and walk down a wide corridor to where most of the events will be held. We have a nine-foot Concert Kawai piano on the stage for the pianists, and I believe we will be able to accommodate all musicians within the Theatre and “B” areas. For more accurate information, you can visit www.my.tri-c.edu for maps, directions, etc, or call me anytime!
We have a big traffic circle right at the south theatre entrance for equipment truck deliveries and buses, and a straight shot right down the corridor to our areas. There is a handicapped elevator at one end of the “B” wing, and the lay-out is fairly intuitive. The current plan is to have all the band-type instrumentalists on the first floor and singers on the second floor of “B”, with strings and piano in and around the theatre.
The only inconvenience might be the cafeteria, which is a bit further north of the performing areas, through the building to the center of campus. We will try to make it a bit fun and worth your while to make the 25-yard trek, (all inside!), with some of the College groups doing short performances at lunch-time, and intermittently through-out your time with us. Warm-up rooms for all musicians will be not too far away from all the action, and piano warm-up rooms will be close to those events as needed.
Our band room, where the Percussion and some Brass or Woodwinds will be, has some large percussion equipment available should you wish to use it. We have orchestra bells, chimes, a tam-tam (hanging gong), a xylophone, a vibraphone, a low-A marimba, 4 timpani, and a suspended bass drum. FYI, there are steps down into this sunken area, but a handicapped chair-lift runs down into the room.
As I have said before, we are SO EXCITED to have you all here! If there are things you wish to know that I forgotten to mention – please don’t hesitate to call me at Tri-C at 216.987.5279, or e-mail me at kira.seaton@tri-c.edu with any questions you might have.
And don’t forget the on-line registration through this site for your students! Registration starts Nov. 29th and the ending deadline for registration is December 28th.

Best of Holidays to you all and our thanks,
